3 newly-appointed Science & Technology Division Directors of overseas Taipei Economic and Cultural Offices (TECO) visited STPI only few days before their departure flight in August.  The main purpose of their visit is to discover how the Divisions could cooperate with STPI to demonstrate Taiwan’s sci-tech competitiveness to global partners and at the same time to introduce the up-to-date sci-tech development of foreign partners to Taiwanese citizens.

During the meeting STPI Director General Yuh-Jzer Joung indicated STPI has over 40-year experiences in collecting and disseminating science & technology information for the purposes of innovation, competitiveness and sustainable development for Taiwan’s social well-being.  STPI shall seize the chance to manage, categorize and analyze those sci-tech information integrated by overseas Sci-Tech Divisions before properly demonstrating them on various information platforms in Taiwan.

3 Division Directors include Dr. Jonathan Shieh of TECO in Canada, Dr. Sam Sy-Sang Liaw of TECO in Czech Republic and Dr. Suang-Jing Pong of TECO in Australia.  After being briefed on STPI’s tasks and latest achievements, 3 Directors all agreed that the “Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Outlook” ( could be the key media to link domestic users and TECOs.  They encourage the meeting participants to facilitate further discussion on details of cooperation in order to take the best advantage of the well-organized information demonstrated on the “Policy Outlook” website.
