Professor Akira Suehiro from University of Tokyo Gives Speech in STPI on September 24, 2014

Professor Akira Suehiro from Institute of Social Science (ISS) in University of Tokyo visits STPI and gives a speech on September 24.  The speech is entitled “Early-Harvesting of Catch-up Type Innovation: Why Have Japanese IT Firms Lost Their Market Shares in the World?” and attracts around 40 STPI researchers to spend an entire afternoon learning from Professor Suehiro’s expertise and experience.  Among the questions raised during the Q&A session, many are relevant to the influences of “China rising” in social and economic development in southeastern Asian countries especially in sci-tech industries.
During this first trip to Taiwan, Professor Suehiro is accompanied by several of his ISS colleagues including Dr. Asei Ito, Ms. Mami Ogawa and Mr. Katsutoshi Nakajima.  In order to show STPI’s hospitality, Director General Yuh-Jzer Joung hosts a dinner banquet in a Shang Hai style restaurant nearby.  All of the guests including Professor Suehiro are amazed by the cuisine varieties on dinner table and enjoy the food very much.
