STPI Shares the Success of S&T Information Databases with Vietnam’s NASATI Delegation

On August 18, a delegation from the National Agency for Science and Technology Information (NASATI) in Vietnam visits STPI to learn the establishment and management of science and technology databases.  Mr. Nguyen Manh Quan, the head of the delegation and also the Director of the Center for S&T Information Analysis in NASATI, emphasizes that NASATI has taken STPI as a role model since the correspondence is initiated between 2 institutes a couple of decades ago.

The delegation is highly interested in STPI’s “National Profiles of Human Resources in Science and Technology” (NPHRST).  Commissioned by Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), NASATI is responsible for building Vietnam’s first national database in S&T talents.  One of the primary purposes of this visit for NASATI delegation is to study the practice of the development and management of S&T human resources databases from STPI.  STPI Deputy Director General Yuh-Mei Shyu explains to the delegation in details how NPHRST is functioned and how the personal data is collected.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Quan mentions both NASATI and STPI share the same missions and functions in support of the government in the development of science and technology.  NASATI will continue to see STPI as a paragon in the path of information management and database establishment.
